CAPE TOWN - SANParks has welcomed the reopening of hiking trails in the Silvermine Nature Reserve on Monday morning.
The area suffered severe damage after a blaze in April.
About 2,800 hectares of land was affected.
Parts of Tokai and Silvermine Gate 2 have been open to the public since July.
SANParks spokesperson Charles Phahlane said that the road at the Silvermine boom gate would remain closed to cyclists as rehabilitation efforts were still ongoing.
"Upper Tokai will also reopen on the 1st of September, including Levels 4 and 5, which were previously closed in July due to the unstable terrain during the rainy season."
