Motorists urged to exercise caution on N4 near Kroondal due to multi-vehicle crash

JOHANNESBURG - Motorists are urged to practice caution when driving on the N4 route near Kroondal, in the North West, due to a multi-vehicle crash.
Law enforcement and emergency services are currently at the scene of the major crash.
A diesel tanker, a cash-in-transit van, and a Nissan bakkie collided earlier on Friday, causing a great disruption to the flow of traffic.
Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said they are investigating the cause of the incident.
“The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage, and fatalities can be confirmed, although details are not readily available. Motorists and members of the public are urged to cooperate and comply with instructions from law enforcement officials who are controlling traffic on the N4 road from both directions (Rustenburg and Brits).
Meanwhile, North West police have confirmed that a total of four people have died from the multi-vehicle crash.
The number of survivors remains unconfirmed at this stage.
Provincial SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone is urging motorists on the route to practice caution.
"South African Police Service (SAPS) members in Rustenburg, local and provincial traffic, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Fire & Disaster Management officials are currently attending to an accident scene on the N4 road near Kroondal, outside Rustenburg. Three motor vehicles: a diesel tanker, a cash-in-transit van, and a Nissan NP 200 bakkie, allegedly collided earlier today."
