JOHANNESBURG - Deputy President Paul Mashatile has called for stronger collaboration with communities in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
He was speaking at the 12th SA AIDS Conference hosted at Emperors Palace in Ekurhuleni on Monday.
The gathering of industry leaders, researchers, academics, civil society groups and government officials seeks to discuss strategies to manage HIV/AIDS, TB and STIs and prevention.
Mashatile has addressed the engagement in his capacity as the chairperson of the South African National Aids Council.
He said resources must be given to communities where infected people exist.
"We must ensure access to comprehensive and inclusive health care services that leave no one behind, and we must continue to champion education, awareness and de-stigmation efforts that break down barriers and foster and culture of understanding and support."
