His family has opened a missing persons case with the Midrand Police Station.

The missing person’s case was opened last Tuesday, while the family said it has been trying to get answers from the residence about what transpired on the day Lebo Mniki went missing, to no avail.

His sister, Vuyokazi Ntuthu, said his girlfriend alleged she was assaulted by him on the night he visited, but did not say what happened thereafter.

Ntuthu also accused the campus of not wanting to give the family the CCTV footage of the day of the incident.

On Monday, the family staged a sit-in at the residence, demanding the footage.

"We need the footage to see what transpired after Lebo got to that residence that makes him disappear. The management was going up and down, and they were refusing to give us and the police the footage."

The residence management said it was fully cooperating with the family and the police, who are investigating the matter.
