‘It's a way of saying ANC has failed’ - Professor Dirk Kotze, political analyst (on Ramaphosa admitting DA governs well)

"Those municipalities that do best are not ANC-controlled municipalities... they are often DA-controlled municipalities."
The cost of comments made by President Cyril Ramaphosa in Soweto on Monday was being counted on Tuesday.
Addressing over 40,000 party councillors at the FNB Stadium in Soweto, Ramaphosa said the ANC must take stock of its shortfalls.
Kotze says it's a sign that the party is admitting it has failed.

"The fact that Ramaphosa conceded to a large extent that the DA is better than the ANC when it comes to governing - it was a major, major concession made by him."

And just how damaging is that concession, asks Wiener.
"I think for ANC supporters, I don't know how they are going to cope with that. It's a way of saying we have failed."
