Residents in Westbury, west of Johannesburg still have little to no water, a day before the deadline for full restoration of access.

Joburg Mayor Dada Morero promised residents last Thursday that full supply would be restored in seven days.

This comes after months of water shortages, which led to massive protests in the area.

Westbury, Coronationville and surrounding areas are struggling due to ageing infrastructure from the system that supplies their water.

Westbury resident Sainy filmed himself opening all taps in his home, where there was still not a drop.

"This is how we wash in the morning. We have a bucket next to the basin and we scoop water into the basin, we do a cowboy wash. Currently in the taps, hot water nothing, cold water nothing. In the bath tub we use a dish, in the toilet there's no water."
