The Pretoria High Court has struck the MK Party's bid to challenge the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry off the roll.

The court heard arguments on an urgent basis this morning but ultimately ruled that the matter is not urgent.

The party and its leader, former President Jacob Zuma, were challenging the establishment of the commission and the appointment of Professor Firoz Cachalia as acting Police Minister.

The ruling means the MK Party's application to halt the commission's work will not be heard on its merits at this time.
