There are no more hurdles before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry after the Pretoria High Court ruled in favour of President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday in the MK Party's urgent court bid.

A full bench heard arguments on whether the matter should be heard urgently and decided to strike it from the roll for lack of urgency.

The MK Party approached the court in a bid to halt the commission, which kicked off on Wednesday.

The party believes the inquiry is unconstitutional and is also challenging the appointment of Professor Firoz Cachalia as Police Minister.

The Pretoria High Court has found that the matter before it requires careful judicial consideration and rushing it through the urgent court will not be in the interest of justice.

The judgment was read by Judge Ronel Tolmay.

" At least the country can rest assured that something is indeed being done to protect the public from further malfeasance."

She said there is substantial redress for the MK Party if the president’s executive decision is found to have been unlawful.

" The court is empowered to grant a just and equitable remedy in due course."
