Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s bid for freedom in the Constitutional Court has caused the main trial involving prison escapee Thabo Bester to stall in the High Court.
Magudumana, Bester and seven others accused of orchestrating his escape from prison appeared in the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein.
Bester has fired his attorneys for a third time and has appointed new lawyers.
Magudumana entered the dock on Friday in a fitted double-breasted suit and a yellow chiffon scarf.
She exchanged glances with Bester and hugged her father, Zoli Sekeleni, who are both her co-accused in the prison escape matter.
In May, the Supreme Court of Appeal dismissed her application, where she challenged the lawfulness of her extradition and she then approached the Constitutional Court.
On Friday her lawyer, Machini Motloung, briefed the court.
Magudumana’s main escape case has been pushed to 5 December for an update on her Constitutional Court bid.
