Government of National Unity (GNU) critic, Renaldo Gouws, has joined the Freedom Front Plus, an organisation that’s part of the GNU.

In a media statement released on Tuesday, the party said it was looking forward to working with Gouws, as they shared values of freedom, self-determination and the protection of minority rights.

Gouws said he was delighted to be back in the political arena following his expulsion from the Democratic Alliance (DA) last year, when an old video of him surfaced where he repeatedly used the derogatory K-word, referring to black people.

Since being expelled from the DA, Gouws has been focusing on his popular YouTube channel, that has over 192,000 subscribers.

Gouws has repeatedly used his platform to criticise the GNU.

On Monday, he posted a video taking swipes at parties in the national coalition government for not standing up to the African National Congress (ANC) when it comes to the Expropriation Act.

"We are heading for a Zimbabwe 2.0, so be very careful and hold mainstream media responsible. Hold the government responsible and hold the political party you voted for that said they are campaigning against this but now are clearly in favour of it because they are still in the GNU government. Hold them accountable and ask them why did you lie to us."

He also posted a video with the title "What will it take for the DA to leave the GNU?"

"I think a lot of South Africans want to know is that at what point does the DA realise that the GNU is not working and what point do they go, enough is enough."

In a statement posted on X, Gouws said his fight for a better South Africa continues.
