Taxi association CODETA's urgent application to reverse the Western Cape government's decision to implement route closures in some parts of Cape Town has once again been postponed.

Friday is the tenth day of a 30-day route and lane closure from Mfuleni and Khayelitsha to Somerset West.

The provincial government implemented these measures to avert further violence linked to a dispute over routes between CODETA and rival taxi association CATA.

Several taxi operators and commuters were killed, and some were wounded in taxi-related violence in the city recently.

Judge Chantel Fortuin has asked one of the parties, between CODETA and the Provincial Mobility Department, to file supplementary papers by Monday next week.

Then, on Tuesday, both parties are expected to argue their cases before her, and she will then decide whether to dismiss or accept CODETA's court challenge.

Following deadly shootings linked to the taxi industry in Cape Town for the past few months, the Mobility department says calm has been restored.

Law enforcement officers will remain deployed to ensure measures are adhered to.

There's still no word from the warring taxi associations about the resumption of talks to end the stalemate.
