DURBAN - The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) says rebuilding the party must include restoring its moral authority while acknowledging past failures that have eroded public trust.

The party is holding a political education class on Saturday, which will be addressed by former party president, Thabo Mbeki.

ANC provincial task team convenor, Jeff Radebe, said the party was advancing its renewal efforts and rebuilding internal structures following a decline in support during the last elections.

"The ANC was a moral compass of our society; our leaders were respected not for wealth but for integrity. Today, that moral authority is slipping away; we cannot lead if we cannot lead by example." Radebe said.

Radebe added that rebuilding was crucial for the party.

"We must act decisively, and we must act now. We need to rebuild moral authority, we must restore internal discipline, and we must reconnect with our people," said Radebe.
