Search efforts are underway for an 18-year-old teenager who went missing at Bakoven beach in Cape Town.
Officials were alerted about the missing young man on Saturday and conducted patrols along the rocks around the beach, but there has been no sign of him.
The teenage boy, from Delft, is suspected to have gone missing in the water after being on the rocks with a group of people.
NSRI Spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, said they suspect he slipped off the rocks during high tide.
“The SA Police Services, CoCT Law Enforcement and NSRI Bakoven rescue swimmers attended at the scene, conducting extensive search efforts,” Lambinon stated. “Despite extensive air, sea and shoreline search efforts, there remains no sign of the missing teenager. Police have opened an investigation.”
The search operation is ongoing.
