Two South African citizens on the Global Sumud Flotilla sailing across the Mediterranean Sea to carry aid to Gaza said they will see the journey through to its conclusion despite being intimidated by Israeli warships.

The statement from the flotilla on Wednesday indicated Israeli warships intimidated some of the boats as the flotilla nears Gaza.

The flotilla, which consists of about 50 boats, is about 100 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza.

Social impact and humanitarian leader Doctor Zaheera Soomar said the journey has taken its toll.

"We are committed to continuing on this journey and we are committed to completing our mission and hopefully in the next two to three days, we will achieve and be successful in our mission."

South African activist Zukiswa Wanner said those onboard know they are not alone.

"We know that we are moving with the support of tens, hundreds of millions, maybe even billions. We have seen the protests across the world."

The statement from the flotilla indicates the boats will proceed to Gaza, despite the intimidation by Israeli warships.
