South Africa is one win away from securing a historic, back-to-back Rugby Championship title, something no Springboks side has ever achieved.
The final match against Argentina, kicking off at 3 pm on Saturday at Twickenham, is expected to have a strong South African presence in the stands, despite Los Pumas hosting the game in London.
De Villiers says the team has demonstrated its trademark grit, bouncing back with dominant performances and strategic squad adjustments.
"I think it's just another opportunity for this group to show just how special they are," says De Villiers. "They've achieved everything in rugby thus far, and then to be able to go back-to-back in terms of the Castle Lager Rugby Championship will be massive for them as well. So, fantastic opportunity for them."
With a tight points race against New Zealand, South Africa may already be champions before kick-off, depending on earlier results.
However, the squad remains focused, with De Villiers stressing that nothing less than a win will satisfy their high standards.
"In terms of the approach, this team will be fully focused, well prepared and knowing exactly what's expected of them to get the result.
"The standards that this team has set have been so high that nothing less than a win will be good enough for them."
As the Rugby Championship faces possible format changes after 2025, the Springboks are eager to claim the title, potentially retiring the current version of the trophy as its final holders.
