A high-profile trial exposing the inner workings of Cape Town’s underworld will be back in the Western Cape High court this week.
Alleged gang boss, Nafiz Modack, along with 14 others, face 122 charges for various crimes, including murder, extortion, money laundering and racketeering.
Modack was recently found guilty of corruption and sentenced to ten years in prison in a separate matter related to paying a top Cape Town cop for favours.
Modack and his 14 co-accused will be back in court on Monday when the mammoth trial resumes after a lengthy recess.
Modack faces over a hundred charges for various crimes, including the murder of top cop Charl Kinnear.
The matter was postponed in March after presiding Judge Robert Henney revealed that he would not be available for six months.
Earlier this year, Modack’s lawyer, Advocate Bashier Sibda, made an application for his client to be acquitted of the charges he faces.
Modack will be back in the dock to be cross-examined by the State.
