On-leave Police Minister Senzo Mchunu's Chief of Staff has called an urgent press briefing in Johannesburg.
The briefing comes amid fast-developing events involving Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya, as members of the National Intervention Unit, Special Task Force and Crime Intelligence have entered his Centurion home.
According to sources close to the scene, officers were seen entering Sibiya’s property, with early indications suggesting that the visit may be linked to either a potential arrest or the confiscation of electronic devices.
The circumstances surrounding the police action remain unclear and neither Sibiya nor the South African Police Service has yet issued a formal statement.
