Motorsport star Paige Lindenberg ready for Cape Town Speed Classic

Rising motorsport star Paige Lindenberg is revving up for the inaugural Cape Town Speed Classic, where she’ll take on some of South Africa’s best drivers in the King of the Mountain showdown.

The inaugural Speed Classic Cape Town roars to life on Saturday, 25 October with Classic Car Saturday, followed by the high-octane King of the Mountain races on Sunday, 26 October.

Set against the stunning backdrop of Philip Kgosana Drive, this two-day event is a full-throttle celebration of motoring culture. From iconic classics to cutting-edge performance machines, Speed Classic brings together heritage, innovation, and style in an unmissable fusion of power and passion.

For the first time in over 60 years, hillclimb racing returns to Cape Town. South Africa’s top drivers will go head-to-head in timed battles, with cars launching every 30 seconds. Precision, speed and nerve will decide who takes home Class Champion trophies, Podium Honours, and the ultimate title: King of the Mountain.

Fitness presenter and mental coach Liezel van der Westhuizen caught up with rising motorsport star Paige Lindenberg, who’s gearing up for the challenge.

Known for her resilience and race-winning focus, Lindenberg's approach is as much about mental strength as it is about mechanical power.

"It's a very interesting sport to be involved in as a woman," says Lindenberg. "It's been a crazy and amazing career at the same time. I started in power boating at seven years old and moved on to cars when I was 12. It's been a great journey and I race for Linderberg Racing and Shelby South Africa.

We're looking forward to the 2025 Cape Town Speed Classic."

"I train almost every day; it's my therapy. It's what drives me and keeps me going. It's something I really need mentally and physically because you need a lot of strength and fitness when it comes to sitting in a car for ages and doing lap after lap and in the heat on summer days, but it is what keeps me sane."
