Two media houses have applied to oppose an order granting an in-camera hearing by the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
EWN understands the member of either Gauteng counterintelligence operations or the KZN political killings task team was expected to give confidential evidence in the absence of the media and the public.
The commission is tasked with investigating allegations of corruption and political interference in the police service.
News24 and Daily Maverick legal representative, Charl du Plessis, appeared before the commission on Monday morning, saying they will oppose the order for in-camera proceedings.
"We appear on behalf of News24 and Daily Maverick, which are news and current affairs platforms that have been covering the commission. We do have a mandate to oppose the granting of the order in the form that it currently takes."
