The ad hoc committee investigating allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi will meet on Monday to hear testimony from deputy national commissioner for crime detection, Shadrack Sibiya.

Sibiya's highly anticipated testimony comes not long after the police swooped on his Pretoria residence on Thursday last week, to seize devices in connection with a case of defeating the ends of justice.

Sibiya's appearance before MPs follows serious allegations levelled against him by Mkhwanazi, who spoke about questionable purchases of properties and the movement of money.

Evidence leader Advocate Norman Arendse held a private consultation with Sibiya on Sunday before his appearance this week to answer to questions about allegations of malfeasance levelled against him.

While Mkhwanazi told the ad hoc committee that he had not yet presented any evidence linking Sibiya to corruption, he called him out for enabling corruption in the police.

The committee has also heard how Sibiya was central in the directive from MinisterSenzo Mchunu to disband the political killings task team.

Sibiya is also accused of being part of a plot to weaken Crime Intelligence, following the arrest of the unit's head, Dumisani Khumalo, earlier this year.

But on Thursday, Sibiya wouldn’t confirm or deny his links to organised crime syndicates when questioned by the media.

On Friday, ad hoc committee chairperson Soviet Lekganyane said Sibiya would have two days to give testimony.

"Today is the last day of the week. Next week, Monday and Tuesday, we have a date with General Sibiya."

Sibiya's testimony will be followed by members of the executive, with Minister Mchunu expected to be the first one up.
