Gauteng Roads and Transport Dept impounds 9 unroadworthy vehicles

As law enforcement clamps down on non-compliance related to scholar transport - the Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport has impounded nine vehicles, including seven busses.
The vehicles were pulled over during a routine traffic stop in Benoni, in the East Rand, on Tuesday.
The department said the vehicles were unroadworthy and without operating license requirements.

Gauteng Roads and Transport spokesperson Lesiba Mpya explained: “The inspections were conducted in line with applicable road traffic legislation and from part of the department's ongoing commitment to passenger safety, regulatory compliance, and safety or safe public transport operations. Operators are urged to ensure that all vehicles and documentation meet legal and safety requirements.”
