Education quality assurance body Umalusi said a completed audit of all examination centres and storage points for 2025’s examinations includes facilities used for keeping answer scripts and question papers.

It said the risk level was determined by whether a centre had a history of involvement in irregularities, among other checkpoints.
Umalusi said that based on the outcomes of these risk assessments, it was satisfied that adequate measures were in place across all assessment bodies to address and mitigate potential risks identified at high-risk centres.
Senior manager Mary-Antoinette Dliwayo said to ensure the credibility of qualifications, Umalusi subjected all question papers to a rigorous external moderation process.
"The breakdown of the numbers is as follows in terms of the subjects that will be assessed for this year: for the National Senior Certificate, the DBE is going to assess 68 subjects, for the IEB, there will be 68 NSC subjects, for the SACAI, they are going to assess 24 subjects."
Dliwayo confirmed that all submitted papers and assessment tasks met the required standards and have since been approved.
While the security protocols for the printing, packaging, and distribution of exam materials remain classified, Dliwayo said Umalusi was confident in the measures put in place to safeguard the process.
