The wildlife organisations say visitors can enjoy food stalls, craft activities, and learn more about conservation efforts, while also witnessing the release of rehabilitated penguins back into the wild.

CapeNature’s general manager, Petro van Rhyn, said the situation was dire, with fewer than 8,700 breeding pairs of African Penguins left.

"Our efforts, alongside our partners such as SANCCOB, WWFSA, Dyer Island Conservation Trust, Birdlife SA, and the Betty’s Bay conservancy, are absolutely essential to protecting this species."
