Suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu says he only knows controversial North West figure, Brown Mogotsi, as a comrade.
Mchunu is continuing his testimony before Parliament's ad hoc committee on Tuesday, which is probing alleged political interference into the SAPS.
He's requested the inquiry to go back and listen to his denial before Parliament's police committee in March, that he does not know Mogotsi.
Evidence leader, Norman Arendse, questioned Mchunu about his affidavit, in which he cautions against making assumptions when people claim to know him.
Mchunu tried to clarify distinctions between saying someone is an associate and a comrade.
Mchunu said that he did not lie before the police committee in March.
"Now what complicated things, in my view, is that when General Mkhwanazi made his statement on the 6th of July, he then tells the public something twisted. He says Minister Mchunu said he doesn't know Brown Mogotsi in Parliament, which I never said. I never said [that]. But he tells the public something twisted."
Mchunu said he has known Mogotsi as a comrade since 2017, but knows little about his personal life.
"In the period, I've never asked him whether he's married or not, I've never gone to his home, I've never gone to look at soccer or restaurant, I've never inquired about his personal life, whether he's employed or not employed, because we just occasionally talk about this and that."
