WATCH: Iranian security official’s daughter sparks outrage with strapless wedding dress

A leaked video of a wedding in Iran has triggered public outrage after showing the daughter of top security official Ali Shamkhani, a key enforcer of the country’s hijab laws, wearing a strapless, low-cut gown. 

The footage, reportedly filmed last year, also shows Shamkhani’s wife in a backless lace blue dress, fuelling accusations of hypocrisy among Iran’s ruling elite.

Shamkhani, a close ally of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, has been a leading figure in upholding Iran’s conservative dress codes and punishing women who defy them.

"Millions of Iranian women face arrest if they have a lock of hair showing, let alone a flash of flesh," said Adam Gilchrist, international news correspondent.

Gilchrist adds that the images have set social media ablaze, with many calling the wedding a striking example of the double standards dividing Iran’s leaders and its citizens.
