As mental health awareness month winds down, non-governmental organisation (NGO) Cape Mental Health is urging citizens to support others on their mental health journeys.
Sunday marks the second day of the Cape Town International Kite Festival, organised by the NGO.
Now in its 31st year, the festival promotes resilience, perseverance, and the importance of conversations about mental health.
Funds raised through this festival will go towards sustaining the organisation’s community services.
Communications officer Barbara Meyer said the support helps them reach more people in need.
“We are one of the few organisations that offer free community-based mental health services, we have social workers that will come and visit you in your home, then we’ve got a huge department that works as well with persons with intellectual disabilities, we do it free of charge or at a very nominal rate but it costs a lot.”
