The family of two Mamelodi women who were gunned down and left for dead say they are deeply hurt by the slander and criticism that they have experienced following the ordeal.

Twenty-one-year-old Baleseng and 22-year-old Tshiamo Moramaga were shot in the early hours of Sunday morning after a night out.

A 38-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the crime.

When the Moramaga cousins were shot allegedly by a man that one of them was romantically involved with, they had just come from a local establishment just streets away from their home.

Since their passing, some on social media have criticised them for being out until the early hours of the morning.

Their aunt Maki Moramaga said the comments made have been deeply hurtful.

“It’s a lie that my girls were with men for money. How would they do that? Men killing you these days for their money. Tshiamo was a beautician who offered makeup and hair services for a living and Baleseng was a third-year education student. It’s not true.”

As community members continue to arrive to offer their condolences the family is preparing to travel to Lukau Village in Limpopo where the young women will be laid to rest on Saturday.
