KZN's borders will be heavily guarded over festive season, warns Mkhwanazi

KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has warned that the province’s borders will be heavily guarded, during the upcoming festive season.
Mkhwanazi was addressing the launch of the safety season launch in the province on Thursday. KZN is expected to be busy this holiday period with the annual influx of tourists set to visit parts of the province.
Mkhwanazi has warned that lawlessness will not be tolerated.KZN shares a border with three countries namely eSwatini, Lesotho, and Mozambique and authorities said traffic volumes are expected to increase along these borders.

Mkhwanazi said officers will be on high alert this holiday season.
“So, therefore, together with our traffic department and other law enforcement, the Road Traffic Inspectorate and other stakeholders we’ve developed a plan to police this influx and movement.”
He also urged motorists to adhere lawful orders:“So, we urge all motorists to respect these rules of law and obey all lawful instructions from all law enforcement officers - don’t bribe them.”
The commissioner has also called on people to report corrupt officers.
“If we ask for anything, you have a responsibility to report that, take the details of that traffic officer or law enforcement officer who is not doing what he is supposed to do but is asking for a bribe.”
With several events including big football match taking place in the province, KZN authorities said they are ready to ensure people’s safety.
