The case against a 20-year-old suspect linked to the double murder in Westbury has been postponed for a formal bail application

Earlier this week, the Anti-Gang Unit had received a tip-off from the Crime Intelligence Unit regarding the location of the suspect who was nabbed from a Diepkloof high school.

The suspect made his first appearance in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court on Friday, where the only people present in the public gallery were his family.

After the 20-year-old's first appearance, his emotional mother was seen speaking to him.

The suspect is linked to the horrific shooting in Westbury, in which two teens were killed.

He faces two counts of murder and five attempted murders

Prosecutor Henry Mbobo said: “Your Worship, because at the moment we only have the bail application.  So we are requesting the matter to be postponed to the 6th of November, court number 9, because the matter is placed under court number 9 as well."

The case has been postponed to next Thursday for a formal bail application.
