The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning of severe thunderstorms for most parts of Johannesburg.
It said that the heavy rains may lead to flooding in low-lying areas.
Johannesburg emergency services have urged motorists to drive with caution and extend a safe following distance.
