Alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack was questioned on Monday about why one of his co-accused, Zane Kilian, was pinging former anti-gang head General Andre Lincoln.
Lincoln, who testified as a State witness in the trial, passed away due to illness in May.
Modack and 14 others face 122 charges for various crimes, including the murder of top cop Charl Kinnear, who was shot outside his Bishop Lavis home in 2020.
Modack said he sought the pinging services of Kilian to locate his brother, Yaseen Modack, after his arrest by the anti-gang unit in June 2020.
Evidence shows Kilian started pinging Kinnear in June 2020, as well as alleged underworld figures Jerome Booysen and the now-deceased Andre Naude earlier that year.

State prosecutor Greg Wolmarans questioned Modack about why Kilian was pingingdeceased former Lincoln at the same time.
“Suddenly, you talk about a phone call you had with General Lincoln that morning and that you gave Kilian General Lincoln's number.”
“That's right,” Modack responded.
“Keep spinning it mister Modack, keep spinning it,” said Wolmarans.
Wolmarans will continue cross-examining Modack when the matter proceeds on Wednesday.
