Zim politician Job Sikhala claims there's evidence the explosives found in his car were planted

Zimbabwean opposition leader, Job Sikhala, claims there is evidence showing that the explosives discovered in his car were planted.

Sikhala was arrested in Pretoria last week after police found 26 blasting cartridges and 15 capped fuse connectors in his vehicle.

The prominent politician made his second appearance at the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Thursday and was released on R10,000 bail.

Shortly after his release, Sikhala briefly spoke to journalists.

Sikhala was surrounded by dozens of supporters, whom he warmly embraced after being freed from custody.

However, he was quick to mention that he does not believe South Africa’s judiciary can be used to settle political scores.

Sikhala told reporters that he could prove that the explosives found in his car did not belong to him.

"There is no feja feja [fraudulent] judiciary and there are no feja feja [fraudulent] investigations. They have found out that these things have been planted in our car."

Sikhala’s matter was postponed to February next year for further investigations.
