Wynberg Girls' High School has been declared safe by the police's bomb disposal and K9 units.
Friday morning's bomb threat was the second at the school in a matter of days.
It comes at the end of the fourth week of the National Senior Certificate exams, with Grade 12s writing Life Sciences Paper 1 on Friday morning.
Police said that pupils and school staff were given the all clear to return to the building after being evacuated for bomb disposal and K9 unit members to conduct a sweep at Wynberg Girls' High School.
The Western Cape Education Department (WCED)'s Bronagh Hammond said the integrity of the matric exams was not compromised and pupils were moved to another facility to prevent any interruption.
"We did arrange for the secure transportation of the NSC examination papers to an alternative venue and candidates were directed in advance to this location."
Hammond said that whether genuine or not, the threat constituted a very serious criminal offence, that's not only illegal but highly disruptive.
