All routes across Joburg closed as part of G20 preparations have reopened

Motorists can now use all routes that were closed across Johannesburg earlier on Saturday as part of G20 preparations.
Law enforcement agencies had been conducting security operations on major highways and urban roads ahead of the city hosting global leaders for the summit.
The closures on the N1, M1, N12 and other key routes have now been fully lifted.
Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) spokesperson Xolani Fihla said that even though operations have concluded, officers will remain deployed to manage traffic.
“We can confirm that all key routes and arterial roads in the City of Johannesburg, which were temporarily impacted by the coordinated joint law enforcement operations today, have been fully reopened to traffic.
“These essential operations, conducted in collaboration with the South African Police Service, Gauteng Traffic Police, Road Traffic Management Corporation, Johannesburg Tshwaneand Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Departments, have been successfully concluded.”
