The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) says it trusts police will rigorously pursue a bomb threat at Wynberg Girls' High School.
Friday morning's threat was the second at the school in a matter of days.
It also marked the end of the fourth week of the National Senior Certificate exams, with Grade 12s writing Life Sciences Paper 1 in the morning.
The school was declared safe hours after it was evacuated to allow the bomb disposal and K9 unit to conduct a sweep.
The department's Bronagh Hammond said the integrity of the matric exams was not compromised, as officials arranged secure transportation of NSC exam papers to an alternative venue and candidates were directed, in advance, to this location.
"Regarding the threat itself, whether genuine or not, this constitutes a very serious criminal offence. Such actions are illegal and highly disruptive. We trust that SAPS will pursue this matter rigorously and identify the perpetrator. Anyone found responsible will face severe legal consequences as prescribed by law."
