BMA reports smooth arrival of world leaders for G20 Summit

The Border Management Authority (BMA) has confirmed that the arrival of several heads of state for the G20 Leaders’ Summit has proceeded smoothly, with no disruptions reported at South Africa's ports of entry.

In the past 24 hours, world leaders have landed on South African soil ahead of the G20 Leaders’ Summit taking place this weekend.

Among those who have arrived are Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Brazilian President Lula da Silva.

BMA spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi confirmed that the country’s ports of entry are fully secured and ready to accommodate the influx of G20 delegates.

"Despite the heightened security environment, increased traveller volumes and the complex coordination required across multiple ports of entry, all arrivals were processed efficiently," said Mogotsi. "Systems across key points of entry are fully operational, supported by BMA ICT technicians deployed strategically at OR Tambo International Airport, Lanseria International Airport, and Waterkloof Air Force Base. The dedicated G20 processing counters at these facilities are fully staffed to manage the increased volumes associated with summit arrivals."
