Judge, church leader arrested by Hawks on corruption & money laundering charges

A judge and the leader of a well-known church have been arrested by the Hawks on charges of corruption and money laundering.

They were taken into custody along with two other people on Tuesday night.

The Hawks said the case stems from attempts to influence a civil case that is currently before the High Court in Pretoria.

The matter relates to a long-standing succession battle in the church.

The Hawks said that the judge allegedly received a bribe to deliver a favourable outcome in the case.
