One of the six suspects who escaped from custody in the Lydenburg police station in Mpumalanga has been re-arrested.
Clayton Flank will be appearing at the Mashishing Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Flank and his co-accused escaped custody in the early hours of Saturday morning.
They face various charges, including murder, rape, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and malicious property damage.
During a routine inspection in the wee hours of Saturday morning, police noticed a leaking water pipe in one of the holding cells.
This was due to a hole in the wall, which led to the discovery that six suspects had escaped from police custody.
The police launched a manhunt and received a tip-off leading to the arrest of one of the suspects at the Kellisville sports ground on Sunday.
"Clayton Flank will be charged with escaping from custody and will appear at the Mashishing court on Monday," said Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Mpho Nonyane-Mpe.
The police are appealing to the public to assist in finding the remaining suspects
