The Mogale City Municipality has launched a fleet of 19 vehicles as part of its Arrive Alive festive season campaign.
As holiday traffic increases, law enforcement agents are knuckling down to ensure residents' safety during the December holidays.
Meanwhile, in Johannesburg, the Community Safety Department has launched the Buya Mthetho Manje Namhlanje campaign.
Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) members and other officials will conduct surprise roadblocks, set up mobile alcohol testing units, and heighten traffic surveillance throughout the season.
As holiday goers prepare to hit the road, police and traffic officers are ramping up their presence to reduce crime.
Mogale City spokesperson Palesa Molefe said the recently launched 19-vehicle fleet is expected to improve response times and extend operational reach.
“This new fleet will significantly increase our visibility on the ground, strengthen our capacity to respond to emergencies, and enhance the day-to-day work of our teams who serve and protect our residents. Together we're building a Mogale City where safety is not just a message, it is a reality felt by everyday residents.”
In Johannesburg, thousands of officers are being deployed across the city to curb robberies, hijackings, and housebreakings during the festive season.
