South African motorists might see relief at the petrol pumps as they start 2026, according to early projections by the Central Energy Fund (CEF).
CEF data indicates a potential decrease in fuel prices by approximately 15 to 17 cents per litre.
The expected reduction comes from falling global oil prices and a stronger rand, which have lowered international product costs.
In addition, diesel prices are likely to drop even more, with projections showing over R1 per litre.
The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy will confirm the final figures by 7 January 2026.
