The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced two product recalls involving household cleaning products and vehicles, citing safety risks to consumers.

Unilever South Africa is recalling Domestos Lemon and Summer Fresh 750ml bottles manufactured between August and September 2025 due to a pinhole defect at the base that may cause leakage, leading to possible skin or surface contact.

Consumers who may have bought the affected Domestos products are urged to return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.

Unilever says it has begun removing the stock from retailers and warehouses, and is working with its packaging supplier to prevent the issue from happening again.

In a separate recall, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa has recalled three Ford Ranger vehicles from the 2023 to 2024 range fitted with Solis lights.

A wiring defect linked to moisture and corrosion could cause excessive heat and potentially start a fire, even when the vehicle is parked.

Owners are advised to visit an authorised Ford dealership to have the lights deactivated while waiting for replacement parts, which will be fitted at no cost.
