Bystanders helped save the life of a 27-year-old woman who sustained severe injuries in a boating accident in Stillbaai over the weekend.
The boat, with its engines still running, collided with the woman after her and her partner were ejected from the boat on the Goukou River on Friday.
Witnesses on a private boat rushed to retrieve her from the water and brought her to shore, where she was transported to a medical facility.
Her partner was also brought to shore by another private boat on the river.
National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon said, "The casualty boat ran ashore and was later recovered. NSRI commends the family on the private boat that rescued the lady, the second private boat that brought the man to the Jetty and we commend the swift actions of the greater Stillbaai community that contributed at this incident."
