A search is underway for three people reported missing in KwaZulu-Natal after a car they were travelling in was swept away by floods.
Paramedics said that the victims were travelling in Amanzimtoti on Sunday during heavy downpours.
Parts of KwaZulu-Natal have been hit by extreme weather that has uprooted trees and damaged critical infrastructure.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said that five people were travelling in the car.
“At this stage, reports are that two people managed to escape from the wreckage and the water; however, three people are uncounted for. Rescuers are meeting this morning to brief before starting a rescue mission to try and search for the missing people.”
