Limpopo police have opened an inquest docket after the body of a missing man was found hanging from a tree.

Peter Baloyi and his 15-year-old daughter Xilaveko Suke were reported missing on Monday.

On Christmas Day, the girl’s body was found at her father’s home, while the search for Baloyi continued.

The father and daughter were set to travel from Rotterdam village to Giyani on Monday.

When they failed to reach their destination, a missing person’s case was opened with the police, while community members searched for the pair.

On Christmas Day, police received a tip off and discovered the teenage girl’s body at her father's house.

She had been stabbed.

Later that day, the house was burned to the ground.

On Friday, police found her father's body hanging from a tree in the ushes.

“An inquest docket has been opened to determine the circumstances surrounding the death,” said police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba.

Investigations into both deaths continue.
