The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) has said police are investigating the drowning of an Elsie's River man at Strand Beach.
NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon said a woman alerted rescuers to a drowning in progress at strand beach on Thursday.
Lambinon said the woman could not indicate where on the beach the incident happened.
"After all efforts to resuscitate the 38-year-old male, from Elsies River, were exhausted on the scene paramedics sadly declared the man deceased. The body of the man has been taken into the care of police and government health forensic pathology services," said Lambinon.
