The family of an officer killed by fugitive Jabulani Moyo accused the police of failing them after the alleged criminal escaped from custody.
The officer was one of two who were killed in August while Moyo was being transported after a court appearance in Roodepoort on a business robbery charge.
During his escape, two detectives were shot and killed in an ambush before Moyo fled in a police car.
Moyo was subsequently confronted by police in Cosmo City in November, where he again escaped during a shootout with authorities.
The family of slain officer Vuyisile Sintwa claimed that despite police promises, they had been kept in the dark about the case.

"They said they would make sure they arrest him but until today we haven’t heard anything from them. It’s been five months since we last saw them at the funeral."
But Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Thandi Mbambo denied the family’s claims, saying police had been interacting with the affected relatives.
"At this stage, no arrests have been made but investigators are actively following up on positive leads. Investigations in this matter remain ongoing," Mbambo said. "The DPCI also noted the concerns raised and committed to keeping the families informed within the confines of the law while maintaining the integrity of the investigation."
Despite a R150,000 reward offered by police, Moyo remains elusive.
