Members of Parliament (MPs) have slammed alleged Crime Intelligence asset Brown Mogotsi’s attempts to avoid giving oral evidence and want him to be forced to appear despite his security fears.
The ad hoc committee investigating police corruption dismissed Mogotsi’s demands for private security for seven days as ridiculous and wanted him to be summoned because the committee was running out of time.
Mogotsi was expected to give evidence on Thursday.
Some members of the committee said the witness list is in disarray as witnesses like Mogotsi and Paul O’Sullivan continued to give the committee the runaround.
Both witnesses raised safety concerns, but Mogotsi wants a private security team to watch over him during his stay in Cape Town and refused alternative arrangements.

Committee member Sibonelo Nomvalo said the matter did not require a meeting.
"This does not require a meeting. Mogotsi must be subpoenaed today, not tomorrow," Nomvalo said.
Committee chairperson, Soviet Lekganyane, rejected Mogotsi’s demands.
“As it stands, like you inquired yesterday [Tuesday], as of now it is uncertain whether Mogotsi will be here tomorrow [Thursday], given the ridiculous demands that he is making to Parliament that he has his own private security.”
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MP Leigh-Ann Mathys said the Mogotsi and O’Sullivan matter was before the committee over two months ago, and Parliament had still done nothing.
