The Economic Freedom Fighters ( EFF) has reiterated its call for the President to close the Israeli embassy with immediate effect.
Malema was speaking at the party’s second plenum of its Third National People’s Assembly in Marshalltown, Johannesburg, on Wednesday.
The EFF leader stressed that the President needs to honour Parliament's motion, which was adopted in November 2023, to suspend all diplomatic relations with Israel as well as the closure of the embassy.
The renewed call follows the recent declaration of the Chargé d’Affaires of the Israeli Embassy, Ariel Seidman, as persona non grata.
The department of international relations noted that its decision followed what it terms as the 'unacceptable violations of diplomatic norms and practices which directly challenged South Africa’s sovereignty.'
“We further commend the declaration of the Israeli diplomat and call for the president to adhere to the long-standing resolution of parliament to close the Israeli embassy with immediate effect,” Malema said.
