The newly appointed uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party presidential task team (PTT) said it has got its work cut out for it ahead of the local government elections.

The party previously declared that it's gunning for a number of municipalities at the upcoming polls.

Its first ever councillor, Sibonelo Maphumulo from the KwaZulu-Natal lower south coast, was named chairperson of the PTT.

He addressed his new team shortly after their appointment in Umhlanga, north of Durban, on Friday.

“Right now, we are marching for the local government elections and all of us we need to work together and roll off our sleeves.”

Maphumulo has urged the PTT members to ramp up campaign efforts ahead of the polls.

“The most important government sphere is the local government because that is where power is, that is where you get to engage and interact with the people almost every minute of it.”
