EFF to remain in coalition with ANC at other municipalities despite Ekurhuleni fallout

After abandoning the African National Congress (ANC)-led coalition in Ekurhuleni, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Gauteng says, for now, it will not be pulling out of its other coalitions with the ANC in the province.
On Wednesday, the EFF severed ties with the ANC in Ekurhuleni following the removal of two of its MMCs from the mayoral committee.
The ANC and EFF are coalition partners in three key municipalities, namely Johannesburg, Tshwane, and Mogale City.

While the red berets are not part of the ANC-led minority government coalition in the province, they have voted in favour of passing its budgets.
"For now, this is a decision that’s limited only to Ekurhuleni and the EFF leadership will sit and see what is the best possible solution for the rest of the metros and municipalities across Gauteng and the Gauteng provincial government. As you know, the ANC also doesn’t have majority there, we have always had an engagement with the ANC at that level," said EFF Gauteng spokesperson, Dumisani Baleni.
